We started our day with an amazing breakfast at the hotel, and then we left the
hotel to start our day. We started out having a city tour to show us around Honolulu,
we saw where President Obama went to school and the apartment. We also drove
past one of the only Palaces in the Unites States. Then we drove past the city hall,
and learned that there are 8 pillars for the 8 Main Islands of Hawaii. Then we drove
about 40 minutes north to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. When we got to the
Plantation we got to try some Pineapple Ice Cream, and it was super good. Some of
the best Ice Cream we’ve had! We got airbrush tattoos, so now we look like real
Hawaiians. After we had free time we went back to the bus to drive to the North
Shore! We drove by some awesome waves and stopped in the town Haleiwa for
shopping and lunch. We went to this awesome burger place, and even tried a
Pineapple burger! After lunch we drove to Sunset Beach, and when we got there,
there was a surf competition going on. It was pretty cool to see them surfing, the
waves were at least 15 or 20 feet. We took our first group picture in front of the
waves. Next we were off to the Polynesian Culture Center and we get some
experience some different cultures: Tahitian, Hawaiian, Samoan, and Tongan! We
saw a show where they taught us how to dance, and they took three (Mikkel from
Norway, Coni from Chile and Peter from Denmark) of us on stage to show off our
dance skills. We were awesome, of course, and had an amazing time dancing and
laughing. We also got to learn how to hulu, we learned it was all about moving your
hands. We got to eat buffet style; the food was good but different. We tried
Hawaiian fish, which was good, but different. After we ate we went to the show Ha ,
which told the story of a boy who grew up and they showed us the traditions of the
Polynesian culture. The show was really impressive; this one guy was a fire dancer
and was amazing. The show was awesome and we’re so glad we got to experience it,
after that we drove back to the hotel and then fell right asleep after our long day!
